This course is designed to equip support workers, team leaders, and providers with the specialised skills, knowledge, and confidence required to deliver high-intensity supports safely, ethically, and in line with NDIS High Intensity Support Skills requirements.
High intensity supports involve interventions that carry an increased risk to participants, workers, and others if not performed correctly. These supports require more than general disability support skills, they demand advanced understanding, precise techniques, and a strong focus on risk management, duty of care, and participant safety.
Participants will develop an understanding of feeding tubes (PEG, PEJ, NG), feeding pumps, infection control, troubleshooting, and risk management.
Training includes hands-on practice using enteral feeding equipment and is contextualised to the participant’s individual care needs where required. Emphasis is placed on recognising complications, maintaining safety, and working within scope of practice under appropriate clinical guidance.
This course supports providers to meet their obligations under the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission by focusing on competency-based learning and safe support delivery.
By completing this training, learners will be better prepared to:
Deliver high intensity supports safely and competently
Reduce risk to participants, staff, and the wider community
